Anchor house is a high quality bed and breakfast providing a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It is run by a local family who truly knows the area and are happy to share suggestions on how best to enjoy the surroundings in every type of weather.
The house itself is beautifully situated on the harbour in Newport and is a perfect base for a variety of river, sea and land activities. Fishing boats leave from the quay in front of the house and are available to charter for deep sea fishing in Clew Bay. Fresh water salmon fishing is also available along the Black Oak river. If your inclinations are for more solid ground, the house itself is on the path of a popular Newport loop walk. Anchor House is also adjacent to a wide range of breathtaking walking, cycling and driving routes as well as having tennis, handball and golfing facilities nearby.

All rooms are en-suite with television and tea and coffee making facilities. The three upstairs rooms have balconies offering panoramic views of the stone cut seven-arch bridge and the harbour.
Cyclists and Walkers have use of a seperate drying room
Guests have use of a fridge and walk-in hot press, a seperate drying room, a large sitting room with open fireplace, cosy chairs and a library of local wildlife, maps and history books. To the front of the house are extensive green areas for guest use with benches, table and chairs. Private car parking. A variety of breakfast options including a full Irish with Kelly’s award winning sausages and pudding, as well as vegetarian and continental breakfast options.
